This Smoothie is incredible for hormonal support and to improve your metabolic and endocrine function. Research has shown that these ingredients help boost libido, increase nerve sensitivity, pleasure and capacity to orgasm as well as fertility.
The full-fat milk and seeds, super greens and superfoods in Zenberry (raw cacao, maca) all support sexual health. Below I’m highlighting a few interesting facts:
Leafy greens contained in Zenberry Greens (and Vanilla Chai) restore balance to hormones affecting sex, such as cortisol, which is induced by stress and is a major libido killer. Cortisol lowers testosterone levels. Women with high cortisol levels have more difficulty achieving orgasm, and lower libido. High cortisol for males affects sex at all levels.
Leafy greens, rich is zinc, lower cortisol and improve testosterone levels. In addition, leafy greens are loaded with vital minerals and antioxidants, which have been shown to improve the speed and strength of nerve signals. This means that nerve impulses to and from our genitals are more robust, which directly equates to more sensitivity and more pleasure.
Cruciferous vegetables are especially good for your “junk” and will be more digestible in Zenberry Greens with our enzyme and probiotics complex. You won’t need to roll down the window on your date night!
Antioxidants in Zenberry and in the berries used in this smoothie protect the testes and sperm against the harmful effects of environmental toxins such as cadmium, lead, industrial pollutants and radiation. Oxidation also makes nerves fire sluggishly, anti-oxidants on the other hand encourage nerves to fire quickly and strongly, making your partner’s and your own touch that much more pleasurable.
Not all fats are equal when it comes to sexual health and this smoothie packs the good kind! The polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and Omega 3 fatty acids are amongst the healthiest for sex. They are found in nuts, seeds and fish (especially cold-water fish).
In males, fat intakes, especially PUFAs was significantly correlated with total and free testosterone levels (minimal effect on female testosterone increase). Omega 3 fatty acids have tremendous effect on sexual health because they improve cardiovascular health, nerve function and offer a baby-making boost. Indeed omega 3 fatty acids improve the quality of women’s eggs and extend their reproductive lifespan.
Omega 3 from marine sources is associated with higher progesterone levels and reduced risk or anovulation. Algae and seaweeds are considered a primary source of long-chain omega 3 fatty acids. Zenberry contains dulse, kelp, chlorella and spirulina. This is also why this smoothie recommend the used of full-fat canned coconut milk (we like the brand Native Harvest). Chia seeds and flax seeds contain abundant qualities in a very small amount.
This smoothie has a double layer of fun: It starts with a Vanilla Chia Pudding bottom topped with a Zenberry Chocolate Berry Smoothie on top.
For Vanilla Chia Pudding
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- ½ cup of unsweetened plant-based milk (almond, coconut, cashew, soy)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp maple syrup (or agave)
For Zenberry Chocolate Berry Smoothie
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk or full-fat coconut milk (my favorite). You can adjust quantity based on consistency desired.
- 1 small banana
- handful of frozen blueberries and/or 1 frozen acai pack (or 1 tsp acai powder)
- 1 small piece fresh ginger
- For toppings: shredded toasted coconut, cacao nibs
- 2 tablespoons Zenberry Greens or Cocoa Berry
To make the Vanilla Chia Pudding, combine all the ingredients and reserve in the fridge for 20 min (or overnight)
To make the Chocolate Berry Smoothie, combine all the ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy.
Pour the Smoothie on top of the Vanilla Chia Pudding (or layer them) and top with toasted coconut shavings and raw cacao nibs.
cannot say enough about Zenberry. I have been a Zenberry consumer from the very beginning of Zenberry when Emma and Shane first introduced it. Zenberry is my sustenance. I started adding by adding Zenberry to my smoothies. Now, it is my go-to breakfast after a drink of warm water and lemon, I enjoy a special preparation.Read More
I’m most grateful for, of course, my health, family, friends and all that jazz. There isn’t much in life more important than those things (ask anyone who is sick). Putting those aside as givens, I’m so grateful for the amazing experiences I’ve had in my life (good and bad). The things I’ve seen, the beautiful places I’ve visited, foods I’ve tasted, the mountains (literal & metaphorical) I’ve climbed. I’m grateful for all of the relationships that have passed through my life. Each one has given me something, adding to what makes me, me. Painful experiences shape us as much as amazing ones.Read More
