Hello! I trust you're off to a great start this new year but I spent a few hours writing a one-day meal plan, complete with recipes and tips, to help get you started. I wanted to share some of my knowledge and experience as a functional nutritionist to help you eat a little healthier while still enjoying your meals. You can download it below. This way of eating can decrease inflammation after our holiday splurge, strengthen the digestive system, [...]
The Green Mountain Stage Race
Biting off more than you can chew can be a good thing, sometimes. Many of you know that we have sponsored an amateur cycling team for about 5 years now. Emma and I are both in love with anything that involves a bicycle. I had been racing for many years on other teams and instead of promoting other companies I thought, "why not promote my own company by racing and riding with the Zenberry logo [...]
Who doesn't love ice cream?
We all love ice cream even if it doesn't love us back, right? If you're lactose intolerant or suffer from other digestive issues, ice cream can be a treat with consequences. If you're watching your caloric intake or fat and cholesterol, dairy ice cream can be a no-no. While our recipe is by no means low calorie or low fat, it is completely vegan and cholesterol-free. It's also got a bit more protein than your [...]
Japanese Sweet Potato Recipe for a Portable Snack
This simple delicious recipe will be sure to please any sweet tooth. Japanese sweet potatoes are the perfect size, texture and sweetness for a healthy portable snack for kids or adults. Add some pink Himalayan salt to make them more savory if you like. You can cook a bunch and then store in the fridge all week. They are great warm or cold so are perfect for my training rides (better then [...]
I recently had an in-depth medical examination as a part of the World Trade Center Monitoring Program (I was present at WTC on 9/11/2001 and the months following) which included a chest X-Ray. I'm not a big fan of X-Rays and try to only have them when absolutely necessary. I think checking my chest for tumors is a good reason to get one but it made me think about foods and supplements that can help the body deal with [...]
Our Zenberry Holy Frappe was "hot off the presses" Thursday! Our
organic fair-trade espresso, procured from our favorite Brooklyn-based
roaster (Jailhouse coffee), was freshly ground the day before the
Zenberry Holy Frappe production run. Super fresh!
Coffee is big with riders, cyclists like Shane and motorcycle riders like me
(this photo was taken by my friend Dominic who is also the
President of NY Classic Riders Club I affiliate with). I usually bring
my green juice or Zenberry smoothie in my backpack when I ride [...]
Who doesn’t love chocolate? This delicacy is actually one of the most nutrient-dense foods known to man, in its natural state, at least. Revered by kings and queens for thousands of years, it was actually used as currency throughout the Aztec world before being discovered by Europeans. That’s right, cacao, not gold (which was everywhere) was used as currency. Maybe they knew something the Europeans didn’t?
What is cacao? Cacao is the seed (or nut) of the fruit of the [...]
Beets contains natural pigments call d betacyanins that have potent cancer fighting properties on lab mice. They’re also one of the best sources of folate and betaine, two nutrients that work together to lower your blood levels of homocysteine, an inflammatory compound that can damage your arteries and increase your risk of heart disease. Finally, the journal hypertension published a study that showed that the nitrate in beets may also help lower blood pressure. Blueberries can also help prevent [...]

Hello everyone! The topic today is protein. Yes, this macro nutrient is often the main focus of our western diets but should it get all the attention?
Most of us have been raised in a protein-centered culture. One where the main focus of most meals will be the protein on the plate, right? The center piece is always the steak or chicken or fish. Some vegetables for garnish and maybe a tiny side salad. Don’t get me wrong, protein is [...]
